On June 4, 2025, Debrecen hosted the Portfolio Eastern Hungary Economic Forum 2025, a conference dedicated to exploring the region’s economic future, opportunities for collaboration among local stakeholders, and the challenges ahead.

Sándor Szabó, Deputy CEO of SZINORG Group, participated in the opening panel discussion. The participants agreed that sustainable development in Debrecen depends on strategic cooperation between businesses, the municipality, and the University of Debrecen.

New Opportunities in Real Estate Development

As Debrecen strengthens its role as a major economic hub, the city’s real estate market is also entering a new phase of opportunity. The University of Debrecen’s growing international student community of over 7,000, the rapid expansion of industrial investments, and the continuous inflow of workforce are driving significant demand for housing, accommodations, and infrastructure development—both in the city and in its surrounding areas.

Upcoming investments—including the construction of two new tram lines, upgrades to rail and parking infrastructure, and government-supported construction programs—are all contributing to making Debrecen an even more livable and competitive environment for both residents and incoming businesses.
