On January 12, 2026, we celebrated the official reopening of the fully renovated Hotel Lycium Debrecen, now operating under the Handwritten Collection brand of Accor, one of the world’s leading hotel groups. With this, Hotel Lycium has become the first Handwritten Collection hotel outside the capital city in Hungary, setting a new standard for regional hospitality.
The transformation was carried out within just 11 months, as part of an investment by the SZINORG Group and executed by our group member, HUNÉP Zrt.
A New Standard in Hotel Experience
A New Standard in Hotel Experience
With a total investment exceeding HUF 1 billion, the project resulted in the complete renovation of: 92 guest rooms (including Superior, Deluxe and Suite categories), fully redesigned public areas and lobby, a brand-new restaurant, modern conference rooms, and advanced building management systems focused on energy efficiency.
The interior design was led by chief architect and designer Krisztina Fülöp, in full compliance with Accor’s international brand standards.
Strengthening Debrecen’s Role in Business and Conference Tourism
The renewed Hotel Lycium Debrecen enjoys a direct connection to the Kölcsey Centre, making it an ideal venue for business events, conferences, and professional gatherings. Our goal with this project was to contribute to Debrecen’s growing role on the Hungarian and international conference tourism map.
Strategic Partnership for Long-Term Impact
During the reopening event, a five-party strategic cooperation agreement was signed between:
SZINORG Universal Zrt.
Szinerty Kft.
Accor HotelServices Hungary Ltd.
Municipality of Debrecen
FŐNIX Event Organizing Nonprofit Ltd.
This partnership aims to further strengthen Debrecen’s position as a key destination for business and event tourism in Central and Eastern Europe.
Committed to Debrecen’s Future
As the SZINORG Group and HUNÉP Zrt., we take pride in contributing to this significant and lasting development. We believe the renewal of Hotel Lycium is not only about revamping a building—it is a value-creating investment that serves both the growth of Debrecen and the expectations of local communities and international visitors alike.
